CCA 2024 Call for Awards Nominations

Deadline for submission, August 22nd, 2024.

The Carolinas Communication Association (CCA) is accepting nominations the for its annual association awards.  Awards will be announced and presented at the 2024 CCA conference in Greenville, SC (Furman).

Information and submission requirements for each award are listed below.

The Mônica Pombo Early Career Teaching Award

The Mônica Pombo Early Career Teaching Award honors Carolinas Communication Association members who have demonstrated teaching excellence early in their careers. Potential nominees must teach courses in the communication discipline and must have taught full-time for at least two years, but not more than five years. A single letter of nomination written by colleagues who know the nominee and her/his/their qualifications well is required for this award. The letter should articulate the reasons a nominee ought to receive the award and provide evidence that the nominee’s early career teaching efforts are and/or have been exceptional. Though not required, supporting evidence such as a nominee’s curriculum vita, student and colleague testimonials, teaching work products, etc. is welcomed.  Please send submissions to Dr. Vincent Russell, Western Carolina University, vrussell@wcu.edu.

The Lloyd Rohler Career Teaching Award

The Lloyd Rohler Career Teaching Award honors Carolinas Communication Association members who have consistently demonstrated excellence in teaching communication throughout their academic careers. Potential nominees must be employed full-time teaching courses in communication for a minimum of ten years. Emeriti nominees, however, may be considered. A single letter of nomination written by colleagues who know the nominee and her/his/their qualifications well is required for this award. The letter should articulate the reasons a nominee ought to receive the award and provide evidence that the nominee’s overall career teaching efforts are and/or have been exceptional. Though not required, supporting evidence such as a nominee’s curriculum vita, student and colleague testimonials, teaching work products, etc. is welcomed.  Please send submissions to Dr. Kellie Roberts, University of Florida, robertsk@ufl.edu .

The Betty Jo Welch Award

The Betty Jo Welch Award honors Carolinas Communication Association members who have demonstrated continuing and outstanding service to the association and the professions. A single letter of nomination written by colleagues who know the nominee and her/his/their qualifications well is required for this award. The letter should articulate the reasons a nominee ought to receive the award and provide evidence of the nominee’s long-time service to the association both in number of assignments, but more vitally, in terms of the quality of the roles performed for the association. Though not required, the nominator might want to consult fellow CCA members for some commentary to include in her/his/their nomination letter.
